Enhancing our heritage
The magic of the show is a unique way of enhancing unusual places such as a cathedral, an entire city, a commemorative monument, a castle and its gardens or a vast plain, all of which are invaded for a few evenings by the enchantment that sweeps the audience away.
Multidisciplinary and participatory approach
The originality of the concept lies in the possibility of integrating a genuine citizen movement by calling on local musicians, artists and actors, as well as folk groups, to set up workshops to develop talents and forge links.
Alchemy of the performing arts
This concept offers a poetic interpretation of our heritage. A subtle alchemy of all artistic expressions (dance, music, theatre, sets and performances), the shows are always original creations conceived in close relationship with the venue.
Heritage operas
The idea was to invent a show formula that would give people a different image from the one they have of their everyday world, and above all to get them to participate fully in this new kind of ritual.
THE ALCHEMIST OF THE PERFORMING ARTS
Luc Petit
Luc Petit is a world-renowned artistic director, collaborating with icons such as Shakira, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Gérard Depardieu. He has created acclaimed shows worldwide, including the Disney Cinema Parade and an international tour of the story of Peter Pan. His productions, such as Inferno and Origin, attract hundreds of thousands of spectators. Through Les Nocturnales, he illuminates the Beloeil Castle Park with unique summer creations. His permanent show, Gingshow, based on the legend of the Eight Immortals, was inaugurated in China in a theater specially built for this purpose. Awarded THEA Awards and other international distinctions, Petit is a master of stage art, combining technical innovation and artistic excellence. In 2022, the Walloon government honored him with the title of Knight of the Walloon Merit for his contribution to heritage enhancement. His artistic and human approach is distinguished by surprising atmospheres, always in the service of his creative commitment.
PRODUCTION MANAGER
Melanie Petit
Melanie Petit was drawn into the world of shows and events at a very early age, and decided to study communications. With a passion for figures and project management, she gained experience in production in various event and audiovisual companies (Brussels Major Event with “Plaisirs d’Hiver” and “Bruxelles les Bains”, “Just for Laughs Festival” in Montreal, “Triangle 7” Audiovisual Production, “Décoloc” in event decoration) where she acquired and consolidated her skills and knowledge. She has worked in the world of fashion, television shows, event decoration, various festivals, outdoor shows and ceremonies and corporate events.
After working as a project coordinator, stage manager, stage manager and communications manager, she decided to devote herself fully to production for the organisations “Les Nocturnales de Luc Petit”, “LPC Patrimoine” and “Avant Que l’Ombre”.
Creation
Creation is an art requiring a number of essential skills
- STAGE DIRECTIONThis is where the scripts, sets, costumes, lighting, special effects, music and performances come to life. Stopwatch and pen in hand, the director gives his final instructions to the team to give his show its soul. Every sequence, every moment, filmed by his eyes and thought out, will be the culmination of a series of agreements. From the concept to the 2D/3D images, the presentation of the costumes and the musical direction, the staging takes shape right up to the last moment. It's in this exercise that Luc PETIT likes to find his balance and give free rein to his creativity.
- SCENOGRAPHIC CONCEPTSAs soon as the theme is clearly defined, we design and imagine the appropriate performance space, which means not only a performance area for the actors, but also projection areas, a functional technical space, access points and hooks for one or other performance. The design of the scenography must be developed in parallel with technical and budgetary feasibility analyses to ensure that the project is artistically, technically and financially coherent.
- 2D 3D IMAGE CREATIONOnce the various media have been defined, our image creation teams can get to work. This visualisation process is extremely important for everyone. It allows everyone to understand the space, atmosphere and artistic universe of each painting.
- VIDEO IMAGE DESIGN AND MAPPINGOnce the projection media have been defined, the video design team can begin composing images suited to the chosen media. This work goes hand in hand with the creation of the soundtrack. Of course, this also requires a good knowledge of the artistic performances that will take place on stage. It is the fusion of all these elements that will give the audience a single final vision, forming an indissociable whole in the form of a large, emotionally-charged tableau.
- ARTISTIC CONCEPTAs soon as we receive the first briefing, our teams get down to work to find the common thread that will determine the main lines of the show: documentary research, brainstorming, sketches, illustrations and initial feasibility analyses. Finding the right idea and the right angle of attack are crucial to the success of the project. Luc PETIT's creations are to show business what haute couture is to fashion. Our mission: ``to create something made-to-measure``.
- ARTIST CASTINGWe choose high-level artistic performances in line with the concept. Dancers, clowns and masters of ceremonies are all key characters, created to measure, who represent the narrative links between the different tableaux. Each performance must give meaning to the show by illustrating an era, a value, a key word or a specific feeling. Nothing is chosen at random. It's the quality and accuracy of the selection of ingredients that makes for the refinement and grandeur of the 'menu' served up to the audience.
- CREATION OF SOUNDTRACKSThe soundtracks are always impressive for the audience if they are skilfully integrated and not gratuitous. They always serve the purpose of the show and give it a special touch. That's why we have a special person in charge of this department who works with us very early on in the creative process.
- COSTUME AND MAKE-UP DESIGNAs soon as we receive the first 2D and 3D images, our costume designer takes on the task of creating a series of characters that can be integrated into the imaginary world conceived by the director. Budgets are often not stretchable, so the designer has to be clever and sometimes customise existing costumes to meet the director's expectations as well as the financial imperatives set by the production manager. This design work is carried out in close collaboration with the casting department, which must inform the designer of the technical requirements linked to the performance so that the costume does not become a constraint for the artist and jeopardise the performance.
Production
- GENERAL PROJECT COORDINATIONOur projects require constant communication between all the active departments, from creation to administration. Each department moves forward with its tasks while taking into account developments and changes in the direction of the others. Both in the upstream offices and in the field in the final moments, changes and transformations are possible. So we need to keep our eyes open and take a long-term view.
- FINANCIAL AND LEGAL MANAGEMENT OF PRODUCTIONThis is the department that determines the feasibility of the project. It provides creative ideas with real figures and standards to take into account before launching the general machine. This department has the onerous task of making the impossible, the unimaginable and the unattainable completely achievable.
- ARTIST AND SUPPLIER MANAGEMENTLarge-scale projects require rigorous organisation between the various external service providers. There's only one step between logistics and the artistic side of things, because shows mean stages, and music means stage management, and so on. Our artists need to know that everything is ready to welcome them, just as our suppliers need to understand the different needs of our artists. What's more, the days leading up to the show are often a big ballet of arrivals and departures for both set-up and rehearsals. This rigorous organisation must be taken into account to optimise everyone's time and achieve greater efficiency.
- MANAGEMENT OF HUMAN AND TECHNICAL LOGISTICSThe human aspect is the one you constantly have to work with in a show creation company. When projects require several trips, weeks or months of touring and hours of preparation, this human factor has to be taken into account. The logistics involved are just as important as the number of people involved in the project. This human and technical management requires meticulous attention, since it involves details that are all more important than the others to ensure understanding within the team, as well as physical and mental fitness throughout the process of creating and implementing a project.
- STUDIES AND TECHNICAL COORDINATIONThe technical department covers several areas, from general safety to the running of electrical cables on the site. The most important thing before the show is to study the possibilities offered by the site, the venue and the building hosting the show, as well as its physical and sound constraints, and so on. What's more, you need to be able to anticipate unforeseen circumstances that could change the plans drawn up by the technical department and the list of equipment at its disposal.
